Years ago when I was new to preaching weekly sermons, I was an invited guest for a special event hosted by Talbot School of Theology in La Mirada, CA. The event was titled, “Preaching Into the Wind: Biblical Preaching in a Skeptical Culture.” The featured speaker was Haddon W. Robinson. It was a blessing to meet and listen to a man I had admired over the years for his devotion to Gospel proclamation.
“To speak with moral courage, you must speak to an audience of one—God.” – Haddon Robinson
In listening to Dr. Robinson, I was reminded how history truly repeats itself. Many older Christians recall an era when preachers were revered and the church was widely trusted, but this era was not during the New Testament era. Neither the early church, nor her leaders, were welcomed by the Romans or the Jews. The early apostles and elders showed moral courage in the face of those who sought to destroy them. The early Christians, led by the Spirit of God, conquered their fear and through their preaching, teaching, and lifestyle won thousands to the Gospel. We need more of this bold New Testament preaching today.
Biblical preaching bridges the gap between the congregation and the written Word of God. Biblical preaching allows the modern hearer—separated by language, culture, and time—to draw near and discover the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The four videos below cover these topics:

Preaching is a team sport.
Preaching is the art of rhetoric.
Preaching is the art of dialogue.

The art of speaking over the centuries been denigrated in the West as the craft of slick politicians.
