This is my final post in a three part series. Be sure to check out part 1 and part 2.
If you're a pastor with 30 plus hours a week of dedicated time for sermon preparation and you have a dedicated research assistant to help you prepare your messages then this video series is not for you. For everyone else, there is an alternative to preaching a prepackaged sermon from the internet or broadcasting a franchise sermon for Sunday worship.
If your passion is to study the Word and to preach the Gospel, but you feel overwhelmed with the daily rigor of ministry, I want to show you a proven method to fulfill your calling without having to sacrifice the quality of your content.
‘Boring’ is not only bad communication, it’s a destroyer of hope. – Haddon Robinson
The homiletical skills I learned in both seminary and in my doctoral studies are valuable, but they don't always translate well into the life of a pastor doing weekly sermon preparation. As a multi-vocational church planter, I was always pressed for time to prepare, so I developed an approach to sermon planning that requires only a few hours a day over a five-day period.
Day one includes 2 video: one for observation and one for meaning.
Day two is focused on exposition of the passage.
Day three is all about application of the passage to my life.
Day four is set aside for creating both oral and visual illustrations.
And finally, day five is all about confrontation and conversation.
This video series shows pastors who are short on time how biblical preaching can be accomplished with more meaningful content in less time. You heard right, you can preach more powerfully with less preparation time. And that means you’ll have more time every day for loving the people in your life.
Using Logos Bible software is not necessary to use my 5 day method but if you are a user a good part of your is made far easier. You can download my free workflow and use your incredible library of resources to better serve your needs for each unique day of sermon preparation.
